Kathleen Crook-O’Donnell
Kathleen's roots run deep at Crook Point, where she cherished her formative years at her grandmother's home overlooking Arch Rock Main Lawn. In 2017, she transformed her deep-seated passion for her family’s ranch into a thriving intimate resort, complete with a wedding business and expanded lodging options.
A proud graduate of Gold Beach High School and UC Berkeley alumna with a BA in Psychology, Kathleen recently retired from a distinguished 27-year career in Information Technology, with over two decades spent at Genentech. While she resides in San Francisco with her husband and three children, Kathleen frequently travels back and forth to manage the business, staying connected with the Crook Point resort team and ensuring that every guest experiences the warmth and hospitality that define the Crook Point experience.

James Crook
James also grew up at Crook Point on the family ranch and followed his life’s passion returning to the ranch after attending University. He is a Stanford alumni graduating with a BA in Anthropology and a minor Economics. During breaks over his university days, James single handedly started remodeling several of our original rustic family cabins from the 1930s. He built up the business with his late wife, Melody, curating, remodeling and expanding on the vacation home hospitality business all while building a successful contracting business. As a General Contractor, James can accomplish, build and fix just about anything imaginable and you may come across him when he is working on an infrastructure project, addressing an issue onsite or assessing our family’s master plan for the property.
Ron Crook
Meet Ron, a true native son of Curry County, whose roots trace back to the rugged beauty of Crook Point. Despite pursuing higher education at Oregon State University and Humboldt State University, Ron's heart has always remained tethered to the stunning landscapes of the Oregon coast.
With over four decades of dedicated service, Ron served as the esteemed manager of the Curry County Fairgrounds until his well-earned retirement in 2019. Now, he channels his wealth of experience and deep connection to the land into his role as our lead landscape designer at Crook Point.
At the heart of our operations, Ron meticulously curates the breathtaking Arch Rock Main Lawn venue, infusing every detail with care and attention. Whether he's guiding tours of our picturesque venue and lodging or sharing his insights into the hidden treasures of our coastline, Ron's passion for showcasing the beauty of Crook Point shines through in all he does.
Becca Buck
For our intimate event packages, we have partnered exclusively with Events With Becca, a premiere wedding and event planning company dedicated to creating fairytale moments that last a lifetime. Becca uses her expert organizational abilities to ensure that each intimate wedding celebration is flawless, while creating timeless and elegant designs that will be remembered for years to come. In addition to planning, designing and coordinating your event, Becca and her team handle all of the setup & teardown of decor and rentals so that you can fully enjoy your once in a lifetime day. Crook Point has been a family affair for over 150 years. Our ancestors immigrated from Ireland and Northern Europe eventually traveling west on the Oregon Trail finally arriving in Smith River, California in 1852. In 1867, they made their way back to Oregon and established a sheep and cattle ranch known today as Crook Point. A working ranch still operates on the property on roughly 3,000 acres.
Some 25 years ago, our family decided to share this land that we love and established our vacation rentals on what we believe is the most magnificent coast in the western United States. In 2018, we formally added our wedding venues as a unique service offering at Crook Point. It has been our pleasure to host visitors from all over the world at this unique and very private destination.
We are so very proud of the heritage of our Pacific Coast pioneer family and honored beyond measure to carry on their legacy.
